esk film goes to the BBC Proms

esk film have just finished a busy period this summer, including delivering the technical package for the “Earth Prom” as part of the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. This “stunning audio-visual celebration” featured the Scottish Symphony Orchestra and conductor Ben Palmer playing the scores of Hans Zimmer, George Fenton, and others. The scores were played in live synchronisation to pictures from the BBC Planet Earth and Frozen Planet series. Moreover, the prom featured the voice of David Attenborough narrating over the stunning footage from the BBC’s natural history unit.

Excitingly, the Prom was also used as the occasion to announce the new BBC Frozen Planet II series which is broadcasting on BBC 1 this autumn.

The esk team had to deliver the technical package under a tight deadline involving collaborators in London, Glasgow, and Los Angeles. This included the delivery of the live synchronisation solution as part of a week of rehearsals, culminating in the Prom on 27 August 2022.

The format of “film with live music” continues this autumn, featuring landmark performances of Star Wars in Concert with the London Symphony Orchestra this month in London.
